US Forces Targeted a 'Major Facility' in Venezuela, Trump Claimed Lacking Providing Details.

Ex-President Donald Trump has asserted that US forces struck a "significant installation" in Venezuela in recent days. But, the ex-leader did not specify the exact nature or site of the target, and officials have issued no further clarification from his team.

Vague Remarks Made During a Radio Interview

"US forces just destroyed – I'm not sure if you heard – they have a large facility, where the ships come from. The other night, we took it out. So we hit them with significant force," Trump allegedly told Republican donor and supermarket owner John Catsimatidis on Friday.

Possible Significance of a Verified Attack

Should a American strike is verified, it would represent the initial attack on Venezuelan soil since the Pentagon initiated a buildup of American strike forces in the Caribbean region to halt drug traffickers that the Trump administration alleges operate under the orders of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The stated objective of the military buildup has since morphed into a quarantine aimed at stopping the nation's crude oil shipments.

Social Media Footage and Official Claims

Trump has for weeks stated that American military units are poised to escalate the operations by hitting targets inside Venezuela, a move that would in theory require legislative approval.

Video footage circulated online on 24 December purportedly showed an detonation reportedly from an industrial area in a Venezuelan state. Yet, the footage or the site in question has not been corroborated.

An official from Trump's team reportedly told a media outlet that the former president was describing a narco-trafficking site in his comments.

Reaction and Ongoing Strategic Posture

The Maduro government has not commented on the incident Trump referenced. Furthermore, there have been no independent reports from Venezuela concerning it.

The buildup of American forces in the region – a stance certain officials have referred to as a naval quarantine – constitutes the broadest naval operation of Trump's presidency.

Administration officials have stopped short from describing the operation as a blockade, but have confirmed that around 15,000 service members are deployed across the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico, including a carrier strike group, F-35 aircraft, and Coast Guard cutters to uphold existing economic sanctions.
